Trippie Redd Shows Love to J. Cole's New Album, J. Cole Sends Love Back
J. Cole's latest album KOD may be his most divisive album yet. Throughout the project, Cole takes shots at the growing drug culture in hip-hop. He questions the use of drugs ranging from lean and marijuana to pills and alcohol and their effect on psychological growth. Cole uses pain as his main argument, and throughout the album, he reminds listeners that there is a great deal of pain in this life, and choosing how to deal with this pain can affect you in many ways. While many rappers and hip-hop fans who support drug culture have found some offense with the project, many others are hailing it as a conceptual masterpiece.
Trippie Redd, a talented lyricist who gets grouped with other young and up and comers just because he has colorful dreads and face tattoos, is a fan of Cole's new project. Redd's sound is very different from the rappers he gets grouped with, such as Lil Pump or Lil Yatchy, and it can be discerned that he was heavily influenced by old school hip-hop legends. In a post to Instagram, Redd showed his love for KOD. "Amazing I love this f**k what anybody gotta say 1400/800," wrote Redd as the caption to a post where Cole's latest video can be seen. "Can you rap like me," responded Cole on the post, referencing Redd's song. Now that's respect.

HipHopDX's Omar Burgess praised Truly Yours saying, "Born Sinner will be the ultimate test of Cole’s desire to grow and experiment as he pointed out in the letter that accompanied Truly Yours. This short set indicates he’s taking steps in the right direction, and his next full-length effort will hopefully appease his old and newer fans."[3] Burgess also praised Truly Yours 2saying, "both casual fans and Cole stans alike can package these six songs with the first Truly Yours and have something that competes with a lot of albums in the marketplace."[4]
Writing for HotNewHipHop, Iva Anthony wrote a mostly positive review for Truly Yours, she said it "achieves exactly what J. Cole set out to do: whet the appetites of his fans and as he preps to feed the masses with Born Sinner, while simultaneously reminding everyone of his position within the rap game.
Truly yours J.cole
Truly Yours and Truly Yours 2 are the first and second extended plays by American hip hop artist J. Cole. They were released digitally for free download and stream on February 12 and April 30 of 2013. The series consists of songs that Cole knew would not make the cutlist for his second studio album Born Sinner. Truly Yours 2 features guest appearances from Young Jeezy, 2 Chainz and Bas. The free EP was released as a trilogy, with the third being released as the deluxe edition of Born Sinner.[1] Both projects have over 500,000 downloads on mixtape site DatPiff.
